Overview
Turnout RSVP (“Turnout,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an RSVP and event-coordination service that lets people invite friends, teammates, or groups to events through shareable links. Turnout is a product of Howard Intelligence Technology Systems, LLC (“HITS”), which is the data controller for personal information processed through the Service.
This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Turnout you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Information we collect
Account information (for hosts).
When you sign up to host events, we collect your email address. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we also receive whatever profile information you authorize through that provider (typically your name and, for Apple, an Apple-provided relay email).
Guest information (for participants).
Most people use Turnout without an account. When you visit an event link, we create a small cookie called guest_token on your device so we can recognize your RSVP across visits. If you provide a display name or nickname when RSVPing, we store that with your RSVP. We do not require an account to RSVP.
Event content.
Event titles, times, locations, attendee lists, and any chat messages you post within an event are stored so we can show them to other participants in that event.
Push notification tokens.
If you enable push notifications, we store a device token issued by Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) so we can send you reminders and updates. Notifications are off by default and can be turned off at any time in Settings.
Technical data.
Our servers automatically log basic technical information such as IP address, device type, operating system, app version, and request timestamps. We use this for security, abuse prevention, and product analytics.
How we use information
- Operate the service (show events, deliver RSVPs and chat messages, send invites)
- Authenticate hosts and recognize returning guests
- Send notifications you have opted into
- Investigate abuse, security issues, and policy violations
- Improve the product
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Who we share information with
Other event participants.
Information you put into Turnout is visible to other people in the same event according to the visibility settings the host has chosen. Hosts choose whether attendees are shown by name, by nickname, or only as anonymous counts.
Service providers.
We use the following sub-processors to run Turnout. They process data on our behalf under contract:
- Supabase, Inc. — primary database, authentication, and realtime infrastructure (United States)
- Vercel Inc. — web hosting and edge delivery (United States)
- Apple Inc. and Google LLC — authentication (when you sign in with Apple or Google) and push notification delivery
- Transactional email provider — magic-link and notification emails
Legal compliance.
We may disclose information when required by valid legal process or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Turnout, our users, or the public. We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing.
Cookies and similar technologies
Turnout uses a single first-party cookie called guest_token to identify guests who have not signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We use standard authentication cookies set by Supabase for signed-in hosts.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account or events are active. You can delete an event you host at any time, which removes its messages and RSVPs. You can request deletion of your account by contacting us (see Contact below); we will delete or de-identify personal information within a reasonable time, except where retention is required by law (for example, billing records for paid subscriptions).
Guest cookies are kept for up to one year, after which they expire automatically.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), or similar laws. These can include the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your information
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Receive your information in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Children
Turnout is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
International users
Turnout is operated from the United States. By using Turnout from outside the United States, you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and access controls on our backend. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of Turnout after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
